Amy Scanlon handles the novel's triple geography with clarity, moving between London, France, and Ireland without losing the period texture or the emotional stakes of each location. Her Charlotte Pitt is resourceful and intuitive, and Scanlon gives the character full agency in the Dublin sections that have no Pitt to anchor them. At just over thirteen hours, this is a satisfying entry in the long-running series.
