Intelligence specialist Colin Lamb, working a nearby naval investigation, happens to witness her discovery and calls in his friend and mentor Hercule Poirot to untangle what is one of Christie's deliberately disorienting puzzle plots. The mystery turns on what the clocks mean and why someone went to such elaborate trouble.

Hugh Fraser has voiced the Poirot series across numerous entries and his delivery here is as assured as ever, giving Poirot the precise, slightly theatrical quality the character requires. His rendering of the English seaside setting and the ensemble of confused witnesses keeps the puzzle box logic entertainingly murky until the solution arrives. At just over seven hours, this is a satisfying Christie listen for fans of the weirder entries in the Poirot catalog.
