Small Favor

Small Favor, the tenth Dresden Files novel, finds Harry Dresden called in on a debt by the Winter Queen Mab — a small favor that turns out to require breaking into the most heavily defended treasury in the supernatural world on behalf of the very villain who has tried to kill him multiple times. Butcher uses the heist framework as setup for a deeper investigation into Mab's agenda and the escalating tensions between supernatural powers that Dresden exists among without fully understanding. The comedy is as sharp as the magic.

James Marsters narrates with the authority of a man who has been Harry Dresden for years and understands exactly where the jokes need space and where the danger needs weight. His performance of the Denarian villains is among his best character work in the series. At just under fourteen hours the audiobook delivers the Dresden Files at near-peak form.
