The fourth entry in Christopher Husberg's Chaos Queen series brings multiple warring factions crashing toward the city of Triah in a collision of empire, revolution, and something far older than either. Adam Verner brings the sprawling cast to life with disciplined range, differentiating characters across gender, culture, and temperament without overplaying any of them. His pacing suits Husberg's structure well, carrying both the quieter character moments and the mounting dread of convergence. At over sixteen hours, the runtime rewards patient listeners; the story's weight accumulates gradually, and Verner's steady, grounded delivery keeps the tension from tipping into melodrama.
