Croc and the Fox

Eve Langlais delivers the third entry in her Furry United Coalition series with a shifter romance that leans hard into comedy. Viktor, a battle-hardened crocodile shifter and career soldier, finds his orderly, weapon-filled life upended when a rescue mission saddles him with Renee, a fox shifter still shaken from captivity. She clings to the most formidable protector she can find; he wants nothing to do with attachments. The central tension is equal parts enemies-to-lovers and reluctant-guardian comedy, with a delightfully absurd antagonist threatening to derail everything.

Abby Craden's narration is a natural fit for Langlais's irreverent tone. She captures Viktor's gruff exasperation without losing the warmth underneath, and gives Renee an anxious energy that gradually gains confidence across the runtime. The humor lands cleanly in audio, with comedic timing that reads better spoken than on the page. At just over five hours, the pacing stays brisk and never overstays its welcome.
