Eric Fox delivers a taut, controlled performance that keeps the tension from boiling over too quickly, pacing the revelation of family history and procedural detail in equal measure. His narration of the South Carolina lowcountry setting gives the story a specific sense of place without becoming atmospheric at the expense of momentum. At under seven hours, the production is lean and purposeful, landing its twist with the full force of a well-laid foundation.
