Blood Canticle (Anne Rice)

Blood Canticle completes the Vampire Chronicles' engagement with the Mayfair Witches universe, as Lestat navigates the aftermath of Blackwood Farm's events and pursues the sainthood and redemption he desires while being pulled deeper into the lives of the Mayfair family. Rice wrote the novel directly addressing fans who had been critical of the series, giving it a self-aware quality that distinguishes it from the earlier entries.

David Pittu narrates with the Lestat voice he developed in Blackwood Farm, giving the character's outsized personality and spiritual crisis equal weight. The novel's conversational, direct address to the reader translates well to audio, where the first-person intimacy that Rice cultivated across the series achieves its most literal expression.
