An Arranged Marriage opens the Company of Rogues series with Eleanor Chivenham, a woman whose reputation has been destroyed through her brother's scheming, forced into marriage with Nicholas Delaney, a wealthy earl who carries his own secret purposes. Neither party wants the arrangement, but Beverley builds the inevitable warmth between two intelligent people who respect each other enough to stop pretending indifference.

Jill Tanner narrates with the crisp period authority that Georgian and Regency romance requires, giving Eleanor's practical dignity a voice and Delaney's cultivated rakish surface a charm that does not entirely conceal his genuine character. The novel's spy-subplot element adds dimension to what might otherwise be a conventional marriage-of-convenience structure.
